What the heck was THAT? The news today was, of course, the big storm in Bucerias and area. November is supposed to be the end of this type of weather but El Niño says different, this year.
What was most surprising for everyone was that there was no notice. No weather warnings, no phone calls from panicked friends, not even an email from the weather services we subscribe to.
Christie was sleeping when I noticed the lightning. I shook her shoulder and said, "This can't be good." 5 minutes later, ooooh boy (I mean because of the weather)!
To put this in perspective, one of our neighbors has lived here for sixty years and he said this is only the third time he has seen this type of storm.
We went around town this morning to take some photos. Mackenzie took the pictures so she gets the credit.

A fallen tree near Casa De Los Monos. It took a power line down with it. It will make good firewood.

The aftermath of the storm. People came out before the sun did.

A very old, very large tree split right in two.

Restaurante La Palapa's roof was completely torn off.

The Flea Market in Centro Bucerias took a beating. The wind tore off the roof to a local restaurant and slammed it into the store in front.

This stall had it the worst, with thousands of pesos worth of damages.

Power lines were dragged down by a huge tree that was uprooted.

The fallen tree was incredibly large.

On the Lazaro Cardenas and all over town trees were blown over, making it very difficult to get out of some places.

A brick wall was knocked over by the wind and the broken tree - Lazaro Cardenas

This tree was being held up only by some power lines.

This tree near the DeCameron was completely uprooted.

Damage done to the recycling lot.

Trees fallen in the river.

Even though all of the power lines were down, some people still put out their wares to sell. Nothing can keep some people from setting up shop!
