Food drive update – La Fuente Riviera Church. This last Saturday, over 540 breakfasts were served. Literally hundreds of people were lined up at the gate before sunrise. 150 food packages were handed out with about 50 people turned away. There are seniors that receive no government help or social security and there are young children that go days without food. Seniors and children are served first but the need is great and it is a shame that anyone has to be turned away. |

Christmas Boutique The local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, an international service sorority, has held a popular Christmas Boutique each December in Bucerias. The date will be December 12th, from 10 – 2.This year, Beta Sigma Phi would like to offer local artists and groups a chance to join them in the Boutique. Tables will be available for rent at a low cost (approx 200 - 250 pesos) to cover the costs of the event. Be neighborly, go to Mexico There are several good reasons Americans should help out the Mexican economy with a trip south of the border.
By Andrés Martinez June 09, 2009
Your neighbor needs your help. Do you have it within you to lend a hand? Will you book yourself a week on the beach in Cabo or Puerto Vallarta, or explore Mexico City or one of the colonial cities in the heart of Mexico? You know, for the common good.
This has been a banner decade for empathy tourism -- many Americans flocking to New York after 9/11 and to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina did so with a sense of public service. Mexico now needs a similar surge.
